Be Responsible and Save a Life
Be prepared, gain experience, and be confident and respectful are some things you may do to become a better and safer driver. Above all, completing driver education is the most effective approach to become a well-prepared driver. This way, you’ll be familiar with the route and will know what to do and what not to do. What you should not do is become drunk, be distracted, speed on the road, or drive carelessly. Distracted drivers cause nearly 2 million car accidents globally each year. Driving while distracted is significantly more likely to result in a car collision than drunk driving. Additionally, intoxicated driving was responsible for nearly 10,000 deaths.
Getting more experience and knowledge in driving can improve to reduce the number of people killed in car accidents. Whether it’s taking driving lessons at a driving school or reading the driver’s handbook, it can make you more confident on the road. In my instance, I enrolled in an online driver education course. It was not required, but I know that the value and useful knowledge that I may acquire will save my life and the lives of others. Taking a driver’s education course ahead of time will help you handle any circumstances you may encounter on the road. It prepares you for any uncertainties or anxieties you may experience before getting behind the wheel. Another key consideration is to be courteous to cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and traffic laws. A person’s life can be saved by being cautious, patient, and respectful. It is very easy not to be patient when a pedestrian is walking and you are in a rush. Your actions will determine their safety and the same goes to a pedestrian. Always be cautious of irresponsible drivers.
My cousin has often driven carelessly while I was in the car with him. Every time, I pray that he won’t speed up and engage in illegal habits like quick lane changes without using his turn signal or cutting off other vehicles. This kind of behavior puts my cousin at danger, and it might even result in an accident that kills someone. In the United States, approximately 90 people are killed in car accidents every day, making it the country with the greatest death rate when compared to other countries. My dad got into an accident while i was in the car but it wasn’t his fault the car in front of us was talking to a neighbor while his car was in the middle of the street and without paying attention he reversed and hit my dad’s car. The driver was distracted, and the collision might have been avoided if the driver had been responsible and kept his eyes on the road.
I was terrified of crashing when I eventually got my permit and began driving. I also knew that driving meant I had the ability to take someone’s life. A car can easily kill or injure a pedestrian without proper training. Watching my father drive his vehicle, I saw how he kept both hands on the steering wheel, his eyes looking at each rear mirror, and his attention on the road, never looking at his phone, and most importantly, how confident and patient he is when driving. It is crucial to be a cautious driver looking at your surroundings and concentrating. My father never assumes a driver will make the right move and maintains a safe distance and speed on the road, keeping himself, his family, and the public safe. It is important to stay cautious and be alert. For example, I was practicing driving with my older friend and I stopped at a red street light while having a conversation. I got distracted and the red light turned green and I didn’t notice. It’s essential to refrain from using a phone while driving because they are simple distractions that can injure you and other people. Additionally, following the rules ensures everyone’s safety and demonstrates courtesy for other road users.
My family went through a tragic and horrible incident when another driver crashed into my cousin’s car, killing his girlfriend in the passenger seat. Everything occurred so quickly. It was a heartbreaking experience that no one should ever have to face. A situation like this can be avoided if we take responsible actions such as going the speed limit, being patient and being cautiously aware of the road. Just over 9,500 people were killed in car accidents as a result of speeding. This comes to explain the importance of driving safely; your actions while driving a car might result in the death of an innocent life.
Steps you can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road is simply obeying traffic laws and driving without a rush but instead drive with patience, control, and confidence. Be responsible, keep your distance, and don’t text and drive. Save a life.
