Be Selfless So You Won’t Be Reckless!
Be Selfless so you won’t be Reckless!
Driving a car is one of the most popular modes of transportation in today’s world. Before vehicles, people used to walk, ride bicycles, and even ride animals. We can now go to locations faster thanks to Karl Benz, one of many engineers who built the first automobile. Unfortunately, driving has problems in addition to its advantages. Every year, more than 1.3 million people are killed in car accidents around the world. Many people abuse the privilege of driving, which leads to accidents and even deaths. If you’re not careful, you can hurt yourself or someone else, regardless of your age or experience.
Driver education is vital because it teaches and educates drivers about important aspects of driving, such as common sense and driver safety. When we get behind the wheel, every decision we make has an impact, whether positive or negative. According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting of the United States Department of Transportation, there were 33,244 fatal vehicle crashes in 2019, with 36,096 deaths. Because many individuals were under quarantine and school was online for many people, the number of road deaths was reduced by 8.6% as a result of COVID. Researchers hope for this trend to continue to decrease as time progresses.
Drivers must be unselfish when driving so that everyone on the road is safe. That is, you must consider others in order to avoid causing a chain reaction of dangerous driving. If you drive carelessly, you risk driving another motorist insane and rendering them unable to think clearly, causing them to become reckless drivers themselves, and so on (also known as road rage). Life will continue to happen regardless of how many classes drivers take. There will be people driving while preoccupied or upset; there will be various weather conditions, some of which are harsher than others; and others who believe they are sober enough to drive after drinking a few beers. But all of this can improve if we all act selflessly. I believe that retaking the driver’s exam every 4 or 5 years might be beneficial in reminding us of all the rules and regulations. We can also put additional signs on the road about selflessness and responsibility, and even require everyone to keep a cute little sign in their car so it can serve as a reminder to them every time they get in the vehicle that they aren’t just driving for themselves, but for everyone on the road. Some other steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths are encouraging the use of seat belts, driving at the prescribed speed, stopping using your phone or earbuds, not doing drugs, and making sure you’re comfortable behind the wheel.
An automobile accident claimed the life of one of my relatives before I was born. My cousin was in the passenger seat with a fifteen years old driver who had no license to drive. The automobile tipped over because the teenage driver was speeding, tossing her out and crashing on her hips, or lower half of her body. Unfortunately, she died before the authorities got there. Although I was not around at the time, my mom constantly uses this situation as a reminder to me that you must be careful and that anything can happen at any time while driving. I personally have never been in a car accident, but I have seen many of my peers drive irresponsibly by speeding and tailgating other vehicles. Even if I observe other individuals with unhealthy habits or engaging in risky behavior, it will never encourage me to do the same. My greatest influence will be my concern for my own and others’ lives.
Staying focused, being aware of my surroundings, considering safety first, not relying on other drivers, and keeping my speed down are some of the actions I can take to become a better and safer driver. I just recently got my driver’s license, and I have been driving almost everywhere. At times, it is easy to forget that I can’t speed because there are a whole bunch of other people around me. If I make one wrong move, then it could cost someone’s life or even mine. Driver education is very crucial because it helps us all stay safe. Being a good driver has its own benefits, such as lower auto insurance, less vehicle wear and tear, and even the ability to avoid tickets. I hope that by reading this, someone will be encouraged to think about driver safety in the same way that I do.
