Please Drive Safe!

Taking a driver’s education course is key to being a successful driver on the road. After getting your permit, one needs to get as much practice as possible with your instructor and any other well experienced drivers. By doing this, it could help save your life and the people around you.

Everyone in life makes mistakes and one of the most common mistakes people often make is a driving error that leads to car accidents happening and results in injuries and even death. The number of crashes in the U.S. is terrifying because statistics demonstrate how it has increased recently. That’s why the importance of driver education should be one of the main priorities for everyone. Taking a driving course will provide you with everything you need to learn, from traffic laws and learning how to maneuver the car. Learning how to drive in a safe way will help a student be prepared for the road and will reduce the likelihood of accidents. It is important for students to ask questions and practice as much as possible to gain knowledge, this will help them prevent many dangers that are on the road.

I remember the first day of my driving education course, it was through Zoom, it wasn’t the best environment for learning something new and important. However I remember how excited and anxious I was to be learning about traffic laws and starting this new chapter of my life. I learned and gained essential knowledge: driving maneuvers, rules of the road, car maintenance and how to feel confident and be prepared for any situation when driving. I was nervous when I first got behind the wheel with my instructor. I was afraid that I was going to make horrible driving errors, but my driving instructor and my dad were there for me everyday. I had learned that a driver’s ed should also be a place where you feel comfortable with yourself and making mistakes along the way is okay, that’s how you know you are growing and learning. However many individuals after they get their driving license they tend to be reckless drivers and don’t take anything seriously which infuriates me. Some solutions we can make are: now with our technology we can come up with new ways to make a car safer. Cars should have more advanced technology that could help save lives. In addition to car safety, the best way to prevent motor vehicle deaths is to always buckle up and always make sure that all passengers buckle up and to never get behind the wheel if you’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Driving when not being aware of your surroundings can change your life and the lives of others. I know this because my brother has been in many car accidents over the years and the main cause of the accidents was because my brother was driving distracted. My brother was only sixteen years old when he was in a car accident. Me and my whole family were worried when the police called us about the accident. We were so concerned about how he was. When my parents went to the hospital to visit him he was in a good condition. We were so glad that he was here with us. That is when I knew that driving dangerously can change your life, because of this event and often seeing car accidents on the news. I questioned myself if I wanted to learn how to drive. It was one of my biggest fears getting behind the wheel. I kept thinking about my brother and the other accidents I have witnessed before. I was scared to face my fear of driving. I wanted to almost give up because I just couldn’t help but to think about how everyone can be negatively affected by a car crash. When I got my learner’s permit, it was time for me to start getting as much practice as possible and so I started to get plenty of practice with my instructor and my dad. Everyday I kept messing up and I wanted to quit, that day my dad had told me something that I will never forget. He said “A car is like a weapon. It will help you but if you don’t know how to take control of it can be dangerous.” I never had looked at a car that way before. Those were words that changed my life. It taught me to always be aware of my surroundings that will help save my life and the lives of others.
