Drive Safer with Knowledge in Your Mind
Having knowledge of driver education is vital in the world because it will reduce the number of accidents, and possibly deaths, caused by the lack of knowledge and skills of how to drive. When an individual learns how to drive, they have no idea of how to utilize their vehicle, but through taking driver education courses, they can learn how to work their vehicle, what their vehicle needs to work efficiently, and what they should and should not do while driving. The lack of skill and knowledge when driving a vehicle is a cause of the number of deaths related to driving. Having driver education will teach individuals what to do in different situations, including weather, interstates, and neighborhood areas.
I have not had a car accident, but there have been many incidents in my life where I have seen bad driving techniques. Recently, I was almost in a car accident because I was trying to complete a turn in a road, but the way that I positioned my car, I almost got my dad and I in a car crash with 3 vehicles. I also was exiting the interstate one day, but a driver wanted to surpass the speed limit and go around me, which almost caused them to fall off the curve and into a ditch. There were many times when my mommy or daddy would have road rage at other drivers due to them being too close to their vehicles. My daddy gets upset and starts saying explicit words to other drivers when they may block his view. When situations like this occur, my mom, sister, and I, would try to get my dad to calm down because we knew that life-threatening situations, like shootings, could occur by arguing with drivers. My mom also has had incidents with drivers. For example, when she is running late for different situations, she gets angry easily at the stop lights for not going the way she would like, traffic on interstates, and drivers that may take their time on the road.
There are many ways to reduce the number of deaths caused by inadequate driving. One way that deaths related to driving can be reduced is by not using electronic devices, like cell phones, while on the road. Cell phones have caused 14% of distracted driving deaths, so by eliminating the use of phones on the road, people have a greater chance of staying focused and open to new events on the road. Drivers could also have hands-free technology in their vehicles to limit the use of their phones. If the use of a phone is needed, drivers should pull off the road to make their necessary phone calls. Another way to reduce the number of deaths is by ensuring that drivers have enough rest before driving on the road, especially for prolonged periods, because driving while drowsy causes about 1,550 deaths per year in the US. The 3rd way to reduce the number of deaths in the US is by following the number one rule: buckling your seatbelt. Seatbelts are beneficial to people in vehicles because they secure people from harmful movements that could result from a collision or sudden stop. The 4th way to reduce deaths is by not drinking or using drugs before or during driving events. These experiences are dangerous for any driver, but they can seriously harm young drivers since they have the least experience on the road. Alcohol and drugs have negative effects on the brain, like making it harder for the brain to use memories and complete activities a specific way, so not utilizing drugs or alcohol will improve the driving capabilities of a driver. There are many other ways to reduce the number of deaths caused by drivers, but some of the main ways include having no distractions, using seatbelts, and not drinking and driving.
To become a better driver, individuals can take a driving course while in school, or after school, to help them improve their knowledge of the road. Inexperienced drivers could also drive with others that have had more experience on the road, like their parents, so they can ask questions when necessary and receive criticism about what they need to be aware of and what they should improve. Drivers can also improve by ensuring that they have enough rest before getting behind the wheel, adjusting their mirrors before starting to drive to cover their blind spots, and holding their hands in the proper positions to make driving an easy task. In addition, drivers can also be better models to others by maintaining proper attitudes when driving to eliminate cases of road rage. Drivers can also be better models by performing adequate movements while driving, for example, drivers can teach their passengers to use the appropriate speeds in different areas and not swerve in and out of traffic.
Having the knowledge of safe driving will eliminate the number of deaths on the road. All drivers need to have the skills and education from a driving course to be able to handle real-life experience on the road. Drivers should also know what to avoid reducing deaths, like alcohol, drugs, bad attitudes, bad activities, electronic devices, and food and drinks.
