I Believe Drivers ed is
a necessary course that should be taken very seriously. I grew up in
a family of truck drivers, my mother is a delivery driver for FedEx
Express and my stepfather is a semi driving instructor for FedEx
Freight. Safety was always a major priority in my teachings. Although
I was trained by my parents to drive, Drivers ed was a major source
of information and training. My parent’s instruction along with
Drivers ed taught the correct way to drive, however Drivers
Education gave the statistics that really opened eyes. Lessons were
planned which gave the lists of how many people died the year prior
from distracted driving and driving under the influence. Watching the
videos and hearing the teacher lecture on the topics emphasized why
safety is so important. I believe making more of an effort to
demonstrate what can happen in situations in which drivers are
negligent of safety by Driving distracted, driving under the
influence, and reckless driving. Texting and driving is a major issue
with my generation. I believe that we don’t understand the
consequences until it is too late, that why when I saw a video in
Drivers ed of a young girl who ran through an intersection and
collided with another car causing her to lose her life. This hit home
for me as when I first got my license, I witnessed a young girl drive
through a red light and hit a man on a bicycle. On that same road
everyday, I would look down to change the music playing, after
witnessing that, never again.

  others become safer on the road?
