The Empowerment of Driving Safely

The
importance of drivers ed is extremely high. We indeed need
drivers ed because some people do not understand the
significance of driving safely. For example: Teenagers. Teenagers get
excited because they get to drive on their own without parents taking
them anywhere or having to worry about finding rides to go places,
but do they actually understand getting from Point A to Point B
safely? Most deaths around the teenage years come from reckless
driving and/or reckless driving for others. Just because you get your
license does not mean you truly know the rules of the road. I would
suggest after getting your license, drive with an adult in the car
for maybe two more weeks or until they feel comfortable with you
driving on your own. Most teenagers would think their parents are
being strict or not letting them have their freedom when really, they
are taking precautionary measures.

The
steps that should be taken to reduce deaths related to driving is to
learn how to be a good driver yourself as well as a defensive driver.
Not everyone is the best driver regardless of how many years they
have been driving. While you may be a good driver and watch the
roads, others may not. That is why it is important to learn to be a
defensive driver. Another step is to get off your phone while
driving. This matter is extremely crucial because more and more
citizens die because of texting and driving whether it is the
driver’s fault or not. If it is not important, it can wait a few
minutes.

I
have not experienced being in a car accident or been with anyone
driving irresponsible. I will never put myself in that situation
because that would be irresponsible of me.

The
steps I would take to be a better and safer driver and help others is
to strongly encourage people to be aware of your surroundings and pay
attention to how other people drive. While the thought of freedom is
great, it is still good to be careful as well. Stay off your phone,
pay attention to others, do not miss emergency signals, and most of
all be safe.
