The Importance of Driving Education

Getting
behind the wheel and driving is a privilege that many people do not
take seriously. The importance of drivers ed is extremely
important because it takes a lot of knowledge to drive safely.
Driving education is insanely important for future drivers so they
can learn valuable lessons and prevent crashes and even death. Teens
aged 15-20 without drivers eds are responsible for 91% of teen
driver crashes. (Oregon DOT, 2018) (Source:
https://driving-tests.org/driving-statistics/) This statistic shows
exactly why drivers ed is greatly important for safety in
teens. I believe that making drivers ed a mandatory class in
freshman or sophomore year of high school would greatly help the
future drivers of the world become more safe and knowledgeable on the
road. This helps future drivers learn from a professional instead of
just their parents. Our parents are very knowledgeable, but in the
driving realm kids need to learn from a professional to get the best
education and to ensure safety.

I
have not gotten in a wreck yet (knock on wood), but my best friend
has totaled five different cars in under three years. This large
number of wrecks we all determine to her having bad luck and her not
paying attention to her surroundings on the road. She never drives
under the influence or using her phone, but she just has a hard time
with driving because she never took a drivers ed class. I
believe that we can all help each other become better drivers through
positive support and education. If you see one of your friends
struggling with driving offer to drive for them, teach them, or even
refer them to a professional. The more education people have with
driving directly relates to less accidents and deaths that occur.
