Alert Today – Alive Tomorrow
Freedom! That was the first thing to ever come to mind as the days
come closer to obtaining my driver’s license. It wasn’t too long
ago that I got my driver’s permit and to this day I’m still
ecstatic and proud of myself for really earning it as I’ve studied
that driver’s handbook, along with the rules of the road, and take
numerous practice tests to prepare me to defeat something that’s
been a long goal of mines as a kid. Growing up from a kid into the
teenager I am today, I’ve always been fervent when it’s came to
seeing the city more, going out with friends, and trying new
experiences, so getting my driver’s license and a car would allow
me to accomplish things I’ve once dreamed of as a child. Obtaining
a car and a driver’s license comes with major responsibilities on
account of major risks and accidents. Some accidents can be little
with little consequence, but some result in death, which is the worst
that it can get.
In order to
reduce the number of deaths and accidents from driving, it’s best
that at all times, drivers consistently practice defensive driving,
responsible driving, and complying with the rules of the road.
Drivers can achieve this by teaching themselves and using the
internet to our advantage or by getting involved with the community
and other companies that teaches and assist with driving. As a
result, drivers would be more prepared and knowledgeable the next
time behind the wheel. Drivers must always be in a good mindset and
in control for safe driving, as there are instances when a driver
could be distracted or under the influence of drugs and alcohol while
driving, which leads to accidents. Being on the road that millions of
people share, it is our obligation to be self-aware of the rules and
follow them to the fullest. It is also important to be aware and
learn the environment, to reduce and banish accidents.
Last year, 2019,
Israel Gentry, a friend of mines had gotten into a car accident along
with another friend of mines who was with him. On the way to school
that morning, they had wrecked from speeding over black ice. The car
then drifted and flipped over and changed the lives of them both in
an instant. The friend who was wearing a seatbelt, was later okay and
returned to school, while Israel is still getting treated to this
day. Accidents happen all the time and at any given moment, but with
the practice of defensive driving, they can be avoided.
To be the best
drivers we can be, it’s important that we drive cautiously, safely,
and follow the rules of the road at all times. Most importantly, take
others into consideration every we time we take a seat behind the
wheel. Be courteous of the life of others, the life of our own, and
the life that surrounds us. One life is all we got, don’t waste it.
