Drivers Ed Online Essay Contest
Teenagers
tend to see the exciting part of getting their license instead of
seeing the responsibilities of getting behind the wheel. Some do not
take the information from drivers ed seriously. However, driver
education is serious because it allows people to see the precautions
of driving to prevent deaths. The information puts an emphasis on
important aspects; for example, it allows our society to expect the
unexpected. There are certain scenarios that could possibly save a
person’s life, and he or she should be ready for whatever happens.
A person is able to apply what he or she has learned to their real
life. Drivers ed is not there just to inform a person of
driving, but it helps reduce the amount of car accidents.
I
believe that one of the main issues is that people are multitasking.
People tend to be texting and driving without realizing what harm
they may cause. I believe that there should be more highway patrols.I
have seen people slow down their speed and get off their phones when
they see police cars on the side of the freeway. If this causes
people to acknowledge that what they are doing is wrong, then police
cars on the freeway should increase. People may see this as getting a
ticket, but it is seen as a precaution from causing an accident. The
fact that people are distracted while driving is a high factor of
getting in an accident is distressing because it’s the most
avoidable situation.
Within
the last year, I have known at least three people get into an
accident. Thankfully, they are still in my life. It is upsetting to
hear that one of the accidents was because they were drinking and
driving. They always say that they should have not gone out that
night; however, I do not believe that is not the mindset people
should have. I believe she should have thought about not driving
under the influence because she risked all the driver’s lives
around her. To this day, she misses her partying life, and that makes
me think that she has not learned her lesson.
The
way we can have safer driving is by being a role model. Today, there
are many hypocrites that say not to text and drive. Yet when they get
behind the wheel, they are distracted by their phones. They are
teaching others that it is okay to be on our phones while driving.
What I can do to improve is to make a better complete stop because
there may be a time where there is a car I do not see. A step I have
taken to help others is to make sure the person knows what they are
doing. For example, I tend to remind the driver that they need to
drive slower because they are putting us in a dangerous position.
Driving should be taken seriously no matter the circumstance.
