Significance of Drivers Ed

Drivers ed
is one of the most significant courses you take in your life because
it teaches about the rules of the road, safety, how to operate a
vehicle responsibly, and provides an opportunity to learn skills with
a trained instructor. Learning these specific skills will reduce the
rate of deaths because the individual driving will be better prepared
and know how to operate a vehicle with caution. One of the leading
causes of motor vehicle accidents is being distracted while driving.
A study done in 2018 by the World Health Organization states that “In
the United States alone, 25-50% of all auto vehicle crashes are
directly related to driver distraction” (jdsupra.com). This quote
suggests that half of motor vehicle accidents are due to distracted
driving. I personally have not been in a motor vehicle accident.
However, many of my friends have but the majority of the students
that attend my school and have the ability to drive do drive
distracted. Nowadays technology is so advanced and the easiest thing
you could do to keep off your phone is either turn your phone off or
put it on “do not disturb”. If you’re with other people you can
offer to respond to their Snapchat or text message for them instead
of them responding to it and put the people in the car in danger.
