We
lost 38,000 people last year solely due to car accidents and driver
education is crucial to reducing the number of deaths in car
accidents. A car is one of the largest responsibilities anyone can
take, because you are not solely responsible for yourself, but also
for other drivers and pedestrians around you. Thus, completing the
education courses online and passing the required examination ensures
that you have the qualification to take on this responsibility. The
drivers ed courses teach you the fundamentals of how your
car works, scientifically and technically. It also teaches you road
signs and signals. This understanding will always be beneficial
because it creates a level of confidence that you understand how
driving works. The only part after is the applicable skills of
sitting in the driver’s seat.

It
is important that every entity in the drivers ed process
conducts their steps thoroughly to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. It is the job of the student to study and
comprehend the Drivers ed courses. If they don’t, they
will not understand what to do in simple scenarios. It is the job of
the permit test examiner to ensure the testing situation is fair for
all, with no cheating. Cheating is a simple excuse for lack of
preparedness and safety of others. When doing the hours required for
the license, it is important that the instructor guides the student
on what to do in certain situations, rather than only correct when
the student needs help. Overall, the core steps that anyone can do in
any part of the Drivers ed process is for examiners and
instructors to conduct their job in a detail-oriented way, while
students engage in the learning and do not make shortcuts.

There
are many steps everyone and anyone on the road can take to being
safer. For drivers on the road, it is crucial to heed signs to slow
down or stop, as well as slow down on yellow, rather than speed to
get across the street. It means being aware of all variables
surrounding them, such as other cars, and pedestrians on the road. If
a pedestrian is seen, it is important to make eye-contact, confirming
that the pedestrian knows that the driver sees them. Also, drivers
should be aware of anyone breaking laws on the road and call the
needed authorities with a hands-free system. Lastly, and most
assuredly, drivers themselves should not be breaking alcohol or drug
laws. This is because if you cannot manage yourself on the road, you
most definitely cannot manage other people in your car, as well as
surrounding drivers.

Personally,
I have seen a car swerving through multiple lanes on the freeway at a
high speed when his car drifted into a truck. That situation opened
my eyes to the dangers of poor driving and has empowered me to be a
safe driver.

It
is always better to be the safe driver, leaving messages unread
rather than you yourself being dead.
