Driving is Caring
Driving
is Caring
In
the world, it is a proven fact that there are so much more car
accident deaths than there was in both world wars. That is terrifying
to even fathom, but it is important to acknowledge because people
need to be aware of the horror that is occurring in something most
people do every day. Automobiles have come a long way throughout
history, so much so, that it has become a major necessity for people
all over the world. Cars are a beautiful invention and they keep
getting more technologically advanced. There are even cars that do
all the safety precautions that the driver should be doing, but only
a select few own these cars because the invention is fairly new and
highly expensive to the average consumer. I think it is very
important to educate a driver about everything that deals with a
driving a car and dealing with certain situations, but it is going to
take more than that to be a great, safe driver. Young adults today
usually do not drive with much care as they do when they were
learning because they believe they are masters at driving, but they
need to know that no one can truly master the art of driving a car.
Adaptability
plays a huge role in maneuvering a car and so does being aware of
your surroundings, because there are many people out in the world
that have no right owning a license. I believe that in addition to
passing a driver’s license test, a person should have an
examination of his/her mental health, due to the fact that most
deaths related to driving are caused by mentally unstable people. I
know that we will never be able to eliminate every person who
shouldn’t be driving, but it is important to start somewhere and
testing someone’s stability is a great place to hopefully begin the
reduction of deaths related to driving. One time, when I was in 8th
grade, my father, sister, and I had gone to pick up my brother and
our cousin from Las Vegas, Nevada because they were coming back home
from work. My father drove a long way since we live in Yuma, Arizona,
therefore, he let my cousin, Ramiro, drive us back to Yuma. That
night was one of the most traumatizing moments I have ever lived,
because all of our lives would have been taken in an instant. We were
on a two-lane expressway and the car in front of us was going
incredibly slow, so Ramiro decided to pass the car, however, he did
not see a massive semi-trailer truck that was coming our way. He was
able to quickly go back into the right line and it felt like we
missed the semi-trailer truck by a hair.
I always remember that night,
because it reminds me that even though life is precious, do not ever
take it for granted. especially now, since I just earned my own
driver’s license. My dad is a really strict instructor, thus, he
did not let me try for my license test until he felt I was completely
ready for it. That makes me feel good in my abilities, but I read the
driver’s manual handbook from time to time just to keep my memory
fresh. Personally, what I do to be a better driver is to always stay
alert of my surroundings and trust my instincts. I say to trust your
instincts, because if you feel like you should not be driving or you
do not feel ready to take a certain path then that is okay. It is
important to know what you can do and what you cannot; it does not
mean you are a bad driver, it just means you are young. It is absurd
to think that at the age of 16, for most, we should know every little
thing about driving. Owning a car and driving is a freedom like no
other, and it is an amazing thing, but it can be really dangerous as
well if you are not doing it properly. It is a huge responsibility
for a person to drive a car, since, now you cannot only harm yourself
but someone’s life can be in your hands as well. Therefore, is
there is anything you take away from this, hopefully it is for you to
be more cautious.
