The importance of being a safe and educated driver is an incredibly
complicated topic to deal with; the number of deaths as a result of
driving are increasing rapidly and now more than ever, we need to
instill safe driving habits in all drivers. Increased death rates are
a result of carelessness, lack of knowledge as well as
accountability. Being a safe driver is important because it could be
the difference between life and death.

Drivers ed holds a great deal of importance in reducing the
number of deaths as a result of driving. with everyone having safe
drivers ed the misconception and miscommunication will
drastically reduce. Drivers will be well educated in errors that
could occur while on the road. This goes hand in hand with
accountability. While this may not have an effect on carelessness it
could potentially make drivers aware of the impact that they have,
ultimately providing a safer driving environment.

Furthermore, as a whole ways we can reduce the number of deaths
related to driving are infinite but can be more defined individually.
Individuals can ensure that they are only getting behind the wheel
when fully alert. Drivers can make sure they are well versed in safe
driving education, as well as implementing safe habits in an
exemplary fashion.

Personally, I have not been in a car accident, but my older sister
recently was. Her and her teammates where headed back to their dorms
driving on the main road, out of nowhere a large truck came and hit
them from the side. The driver appeared to be a young boy driving
what he said was his fathers’ truck. The boy made aware to the
police that he just recently got his license. While the car was
totaled thankfully no one was hurt. Even though I physically was not
there it is still terrifying to know that anything could have
happened.

While the steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver may
be simple you would be surprised the impact that they have. For one I
can make sure that I am always aware. When I was first learning to
drive, my mom would tell me that not only am I driving for myself but
everyone around as well. That was her way of telling me to not only
watch what I am doing but everyone around me too. As a driver I take
pride in knowing that when I am on the road, I am fully focused and
implementing my safe drivers ed.

If someone with little understanding of the importance of being a
safe and educated driver examined the issue entirely, it’s possible
they think the problem is not of importance. Understanding the
statistics, we can state otherwise. While there is some resistance,
no one can argue with the facts, that the lack of knowledge,
accountability, and carelessness are some of the reasons for the
increased number of deaths as a result of driving.
