Only Takes One
There is nothing
scarier than knowing in one instant your life could be taken while
driving. In most states teens at the age of 16 are able to obtain
their license and in other places, the minimum is around 13 years
old. Having young children on the road driving is terrifying and even
scarier not knowing if they have taken drivers ed seriously.
When you are driving you have to remember that people are trusting
you to drive safely. At any moment their life or even yours could be
taken. Our phones are the biggest distraction. We hear one “ding”
and instantly want to look at what was just sent to us. It takes only
one glance to begin steering into another than or run a red light. It
takes one text message, phone call, instagram notification, or
snapchat to end somebody’s life. Another thing people need to
realize is that it is never safe to drive while under the influence.
It only takes that one time you risk thinking you’re sober enough
to make it home when you really aren’t. People don’t realize how
dangerous cars really are. If everyone did, then the death rates from
car accidents would definitely decrease. We all need to be more aware
of everything that’s going on while driving and have complete focus
on the road and nothing else. Knowing that there are other lives you
could be ending is the most important thing others need to understand
when becoming a driver. Sadly for me, I have been involved in a car
accident and thankful I was able to walk away uninjured. However,
that accident definitely scarred me and made me become a more
cautious driver. The accident was caused by someone who wasn’t
paying attention and ran a stop sign. This made me wonder if they
were looking down at their phone instead of paying attention to the
road. Life is more important than a $500 phone. It only takes that
one distraction to cause an accident. I encourage people to not
risk-taking that one chance because you never know who’s life
you’re putting at risk. We all say we only live once so why end it
so soon by driving recklessly.
