Life Has Its Limits
Driving
is one of the most beneficial times in a child’s life, this when
they are truly on their own. When kids are able to drive themselves
without having to have a parent as their chauffeur it can be a very
exciting moment for both the child and the parent. But, should a
child take Drivers Ed before getting out on the roads? For the
sake of our children’s lives, yes. A study taken in 2015 showed
that “young drivers who
have not completed drivers ed are 75 percent more likely to
get a traffic ticket, 24 percent more likely to be involved in a
fatal or injury accident and 16 percent more likely to have an
accident”. So, if by taking one class, your child’s life could be
in much better hands, why not do it? To no surprise one of the
biggest causes of death by driving, is texting or phones in general.
This is such a common thing that i’m sure most people admit to
doing sometime in their life, but this is also one of the most deadly
actions when it comes to driving. When looking at your phone, no
matter the reason, you are not giving your full attention to the
road. It is so easy to be distracted by your phone, that you might
not see the deer run across the road until it’s too late, or the
car that stepped on its breaks at the last second, resulting in a
fatal injury. One of the biggest tips is to pull over! What do I mean
by this exactly? If you hear something in the back of your car
rolling around, instead of taking your eyes off the road to try and
reach into the back seat to see what it is, pull over and remove the
object. If you are eating in your car, and find that the food is way
too messy to try and eat and drive at the same time, pull over and
finish eating before you continue to drive. Lastly, if you know that
you are not in the condition to be driving, do not
try to do so. Whether you are tired, have been drinking, or can’t
seem to focus, pull over and wait for someone who is stable enough to
come and pick you up. This way you are not putting yourself in harm,
or anyone else that is one the road. Driving is all about making
smart choices, and knowing when you should and shouldn’t go out
onto the roads. Driving gives you freedom, so make sure you are
making the right choices so you can keep that freedom!
