Safety on the road
Drivers ed is
important for a number of reasons. Firstly, knowing all the basic
rules of the road will help one learn how to drive and reduce the
chances for mistakes while driving. In addition, it helps to teach
vehicle control and how to respond in times of traffic. People also
learn how to drive in different conditions such as nighttime, rain,
fog, and more. Learning how to drive in these conditions is important
because during all these times your vision is somewhat compromised,
and nobody wants to crash because they are not prepared to drive in
adverse conditions/times. People taking drivers ed courses before
going to obtain a license also learn how to adjust their car’s seat
to their liking and what is most comfortable to them. People also
learn how to safely drive while others are on the road and how to
make good decisions. To reduce the number of driving-related deaths
there are a few things we should consider firstly. We need to think
about the people who get distracted by numerous things while driving.
Drivers can get distracted by almost anything, including but not
limited to crying children, food in their hands, objects in the road,
and cell phones. A lot of distractions caused by cell phones can
result in fatal car crashes. To reduce the number of deaths caused by
phones, and just about any other distractions, we need to implement
self control. Wait until you stop to answer that text. Go park at a
gas station and eat that burger. Always keep your eyes on the road.
If we just do simple activities that divert our attention to the road
and only the road, the number of fatalities and crashes can be
greatly reduced. Another cause of crashes can be caused by people who
simply do not know the rules of the road. These people can take a
drivers ed course or read their state’s driver’s handbook, and
more importantly get comfortable with their car. I myself have never
been in a car accident while I was driving the car and I never wish
to be. I have been in 1 accident unrelated to myself driving, and it
was because the other driver was being irresponsible and not obeying
traffic laws. In regards to myself being a better driver, I think I
can say that I just need to be a little more patient while driving. I
do not typically speed, however slow drivers do make me mad. It is
hard to do anything about that on a 1 lane road, so I will try to be
more patient. Other than that I would say I am a very good driver.
