It Can Happen To Anyone

The
moment you are given the freedom of having a license you take on a
huge responsibility. Sitting behind a wheel, you are in full control,
you are in control of a large object that can move at a very fast
speed. People may take this responsibility for granted, those who do
usually end up getting in an accident. Driving a car involves a ton
of trust, trusting the person who is driving, the passengers and
other drivers. You could be the best driver in the world, yet it
takes two to crash.

Drivers Ed provided
a course loaded with information to prepare drivers to take the road
seriously. It made me realize that once I received my license I must
be mature and take it seriously. They not only warned me about
cautions but they teach confidence. It helps drivers to remain calm
behind the wheel and keep their focus right. Drivers Ed goes over
several situations that a driver may face. Teaching them how to avoid
those situations/ what to do if faced with them. Without drivers ed I
definitely wouldn’t have been prepared for the roads.

Safety
is a priority when driving, people are killed very easily when one is
not being careful. In order to prevent deaths you must understand how
easy it is to mess up and get in an accident. Also accept that
driving dangerously, immaturely, illegally not only puts your life at
risk but everyone else. Making sure you understand the rules of the
road and what is safe to do when driving will help you/others stay
safe. Keeping any distractions to the side and making your main focus
the road is a very important factor that everyone these days is
trying to promote (such as phones). Also making sure you are not
driving under the influence of any drugs or alcohol is a law and
impacts people’s safety.

This
summer I got into my first and hopefully last car accident. I was
driving home from a college tour with my friend 3 hours away from
home in heavy yet fast traffic on the highway. The lady in front of
me slammed on her breaks while going 60mph, I did as well but the guy
behind me didn’t, resulting in getting sandwiched. It leads me to
believe that the lady slammed on her breaks because she wasn’t paying
attention to whatever it was in front of her, and the guy behind me
admitted he wasn’t paying attention. Being 3 hours away from home
in a huge accident was terrifying and definitely taught me a lot
about the highway. I never expected something like that to happen to
me? I am such a cautious, careful driver, so why’d this happen? It
taught me that accidents can happen to anyone, I was really lucky not
to be too hurt, but it was definitely something that had scared me as
a driver. It taught me a lesson, you can never be too safe when
driving.
