It Could Save Your Life

Every
year more teens are getting their driving permits and their licenses.
However, not all of them have taken Drivers Ed or any other
informative classes. Sadly, I think it‘s those teens who get into
accidents either harming themselves alone, or others. If new drivers
take Drivers Ed, they could decrease the risk of accidents and deaths
by motor vehicles. To decrease this growing dilemma, I think all new
drivers should be required to take Drivers Ed, with a qualified
instructor.

Driving
a car is a great responsibility. You must always remember the rules
of the road. I know when I took my driver instruction class I learned
so much from my instructor. While my parents took me out driving and
did their best, my instructor made such a difference in teaching me
the rules of driving. Just like we have teachers in school for each
subject, every driver should have a qualified driving instructor.

I
think teens should also be instructed to advocate safe driving to
their friends. If you are in a car with somebody and they are driving
irresponsibly, call them out for it. They might hate that you do it,
but it could end up saving not only yours, but also their life. I
never get into a car unless I know a safe driver is behind the wheel
and I always wear my seat belt, even if I’m sitting in the back of
the car. When I drive I make sure my cellphone is off and put away
out of reach so I’m not even tempted to use it. As a new driver I
follow the rules of only having one friend in my car and never drive
after 9 pm.

Earlier
this year a friend of mine, a Senior classmate, crashed into a tree
and a pole, ending his life. There were rumors that he was on his
cell phone or distracted by his radio. No one really knows what
happened, but he did something that cost him his life and altered his
family and friends forever. It can never be undone.

Teens
and new drivers need to be instructed and shown h
ow
to drive safely. Unfortunately, not all parents are up to the task
and that’s why a qualified teacher is so important. I would
recommend
ALL
new drivers should have to take a Diver Ed course. It will save
lives!
