The
Keys to Safe Driving

Driver’s
education serves as a natural shield against accidents and deaths due
to improper driving for multiple reasons. Firstly, a driver that has
been taught factual knowledge gains a clearer understanding than
someone who is not by clearing up misunderstandings that can
otherwise increase risk. Secondly, learning a subject helps the
person build discipline for it as well, which translates into a more
cautious application of their knowledge when starting out. Finally,
drivers ed helps reduce driver related deaths by placing
the needed expectations the person should have on the road, such as
constantly checking their mirrors or paying attention to signs. Other
methods of reducing driver related deaths is by reinforcing better
driving habits through retaking the drivers test in order to refresh
their knowledge and improving roads in order to have a safer driving
environment.

There
have been multiple instances involving accidents throughout my life
from both families and other drivers. One day as my dad rushed to
take me to my soccer practice he sped and was ticketed by the
officer, which taught me early on that driver’s no matter what
experience could make mistakes. Years ago, my brother was ticketed
for speeding on a long road at night after getting home from work.
Recently, as my brother and I were on errands, a driver had decided
to continue a left turn into a CVS pharmacy without noticing that my
brother was already on his way past the intersection, but fortunately
both my brother and the driver were able to stop in time. In order to
become a better and safer driver, I will try to focus more on my
surroundings through my mirrors and not purely on the road, which
should help keep me aware of other drivers’ habits. Another key
aspect is getting enough rest in order to stay focused while driving
and prevent accidents due to exhaustion. Lastly, minimizing the
amount of noise such as music should help keep my focus while driving
and reduce harming others on the road.
