Driving Safer

Driver’s
education classes in high school are responsible for teaching the
next generation how to drive safely and in accordance with the law.
When students take these classes, they should come out with the
knowledge needed to navigate our roads and streets with caution in
regards to their and their fellow drivers’ lives. They learn safety
techniques, what to do where and when, the laws, how to drive in
general, how to take care of themselves and their vehicles before
they drive. All of these subjects and more help to teach the new
driver how to stay safe when they go out in their cars. It’s
important they take these courses to teach them how to be safe.

To
reduce the number of deaths, we need harsher penalties against unsafe
driving. We need to make more safe driving courses available to the
public. Not everyone gets to go to high school, and not all of them
get to come out with a drivers ed certificate. We need to
make sure we give licenses to those people who know how to be safe on
our roads to reduce the number of deaths.

One
of the most dangerous distractions for drivers is texting and
driving. I have seen my friends, their families, my family, and many
other people text and drive. I hate it everytime I see it. Taking
your eyes off the road for any amount of time is dangerous. I get
scared everytime they do it, because I’m scared we will wreck. I do
my best to always call them out for doing it. While I do not know
many people in accidents, I know many people who do this unsafe
driving practice, and I wonder when they’ll have a crash.

In
order for me to be a safer driver, I can text all my friends that
I’ll be driving and Can not answer their texts. I can abide by all of
the rules of the road and take extra precautions as I am a new
driver, like having a higher following distance and staying off of
the phone. I can also tell my friends not to text and drive so they
can stay safe also.
