The
Trials and Tribulations of the Driver’s Seat
Driver’s
Ed, although it may be long and enduring, is one of the most
important courses that any soon-to-be driver should take in order to
maximize safety while behind the wheel for not only themselves, but
for others. It is important understand the risks that come with
driving and why it is necessary to take this course in order to be on
the road. When getting behind the wheel, you significantly increase
not only yourself but others’ chances of severe injury or even
death. This can stem from many different reasons as far as not being
aware of your surroundings, being under the influence, being
intoxicated, and of course just being an unexperienced and uneducated
driver. Drivers Ed teaches you the necessary fundamentals and
everything you need to know to ensure everyone’s, including
yourself, safety on the road.
There
are many steps that can be taken to reduce the chance of death while
in the driver’s seat. Simple steps such as making sure your
seatbelt is fastened at all times and making sure your mirrors are
adjusted to your need significantly reduce the risk of death while
driving. Other steps can be making sure your hands are on the wheel
at all times, keeping your eyes on the road at all times, and
driving/maintaining a steady and respectable speed limit on roads and
highways. Following these steps help eliminate distractions and
maximize safety and I can ensure this due to the fact that I follow
these as well and I have never been in an accident or collision on
the road.
I
have witnessed car accidents and been a part of many of them by being
in the passenger seat and by following the steps up above, the
accidents could have been avoided. There are also steps that
passengers can take by always being alert as well, keeping the music
at a low level so the driver can focus, and help with directions if
necessary. Being behind the wheel or even a passenger can be deadly
if you are not careful so the top priority should always be safety.
With the steps above along what is learned in Drivers Ed, you are
already on your way to being a safe driver.
