Driver
education is a very important class, that everyone takes in their
life time. I believe that it is the most important, outside of the
classroom classes. The importance of Drivers ed, in relation
to reduce the number of deaths while driving, is highly important to
all drivers and passengers. The importance of drivers ed, is to
make it clear that when you drive, you are putting all lives at risk.
One small mistake when driving can cause a matrotrophic outcome and
people die. With the education gained while taking drivers ed, it
helps to eliminate this risk by warning and sometimes scaring the new
drivers that this will, could, and may happen and could happen to
you. When taking this class, your mind is put in caution mode that
when driving, we are on high alert and fully aware to not make any
mistakes.
There
are three key steps that I think should be done to eliminate the
number of deaths while driving. The first step is to make all cars,
new and old to have an alert system that beeps at you when eyes are
off the road. This should be required by law, and be made that this
alert system cannot be turned off. This would allow eyes of drivers
to always be on the road at all times. The second step that should be
done to help reduce the number of deaths while driving is to make all
cars to not exceed 65mph. With this, you won’t have people going
80mph down the highway, all people would be going as fast as they
possibly can when the speed limit allows. This also would allow a max
cap on the speed limits on all highway and interstates. The final key
to help reduces the number of deaths while driving is sensor systems
that read the speeds. With this, as they read the speeds of other
cars driving by, and your driving faster then the mass majority of
them, the car would automatically slow down it self to be like the
other cars. For example, your going 55mph and most the other cars are
going 40mph, your car will slow down itself to 40mph. These three key
steps can help reduce the number of deaths while driving.
I
personally have been in a car accident where my sister was driving
irresponsibly. There were signs for construction work ahead, and it
was rainy outside. We were going about 60mph, and the car started to
slow down because of the construction worker flipped the sign to
stop. My sister couldn’t stop in time and we smashed into the car
in front of us. With this experience and drivers ed, I can take a
couple steps to be a safer driver and keep others safe. I drive
reduced speeds in weather conditions, I don’t exceed speed limits,
follow all road signs, and I do not drive erratically to be safe to
myself and others around me while driving.
