Drive Like It’s
Your Job
Many times, people
are unaware of the hazards driving may create. Drivers ed needs
to create an empathetic message for their audience in order to
provide accurate depictions of the everyday situations they may
encounter. Accidents happen on the daily, and yet they seem to go
unnoticed. Teenagers are eager to receive their license, but can’t
fathom the small details that could create disasters. These include
texting, being drowsy, driving under the influence, or not signaling.
To reduce the number of deaths, people need to maintain healthy
habits while driving. Such habits include always checking mirrors,
wearing seatbelts, and keeping focus no matter the distractions that
may be around someone. Often times, it is easy to day-dream while
driving, therefore people can use cautionary steps to help them avoid
it. For example, one could keep the cool-air setting on to promote
alertness, or keep the radio at a lower volume than usual to make
sure one is focused on the road. My sister has totaled 3 cars, been
in 6 accidents, and been pulled over 2 times by the police. Her
records astonish people, but it has allowed me to become an overly
cautious driver. She often times checks her phone while driving which
led to many of her accidents. Meddling with technology or the radio,
even while stopped can lead to disaster. I am confident that she
could have avoided half of these incidents if she were to slow down
and focus on the road, rather than get distracted by a text message
that could wait 10 minutes. To be a better and safer driver, easy
steps can be taken to ensure the safety of not only oneself, but
others as well. I have a Bluetooth in my car, which allows me to pick
my own music. Instead of selecting songs as I’m driving, I simply
hit shuffle and put my phone in my glovebox to ensure I won’t touch
it while driving. I keep the air cool to make sure I won’t be
drowsy, and always wear my seatbelt. Such simply tasks have allowed
me to be the best driver in my family and keep my perfect record!
