In
order for me to pass my drivers test, I made sure to read the
Driver´s Book not once, but twice, made sure to go on various test
drives with my parents and ask all necessary questions that wondered
in my head so that I made sure I knew what to do and what to expect.
As the day to finally take my drivers exam arrived, I was given the
keys and was expected to conduct a safe precaution measurement around
the vehicle. I nervously checked for any flat tires, checked for an
updated license plate. I hop in the drivers seat, turn the key into
the ignition, and while the car was on adjusted my seat. I adjusted
my mirrors, checked that my signals were properly working, and made
sure the passenger was wearing their seatbelt as well as making sure
that mine was properly adjusted. I then took off and conducted all
drives that were required, went back to the school, and found out at
the moment that I had passed with an outstanding score. But I
realized that was the beginning to new risks.

I
believe that the importance of drivers ed in the number of
deaths as a result of driving should be taken very seriously. We are
taught specific precautions during our drivers ed classes in order to
prevent the increase of deaths when driving. We should take those
pre-measures into our daily driving lives and actually put them into
use. It was said that an average of 34,000 people die each year as a
result of driving. Driving is considered to be more dangerous and
deadly for our nation rather than being involved in combat. Drivers
Ed exists for various reasons; to prevent deaths.

Steps
to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is conducting a
proper check around vehicles. Making sure the driver has an updated
license, the vehicle includes insurance, passengers in the vehicle
are properly secured with their seatbelts and are sitting in an
actual seat. Make sure lights and signals are working as well as
making sure there is a tank full of gas to reach the desired
destination(s). I recommend taking exactly the same precaution
measures that were given and needed when taking the drivers ed exam
and applying that into the daily driving lives.

Although
I do know the precaution matters in driving, I have been in a car
accident before. In the case I was in, I was not the driver, but
instead the passenger. Luckily both, the driver and I had our
seatbelts and no one was injured at all. Without a doubt, I was
absolutely terrified since it was my first time being in an accident,
but I learned what matters most is that we were both alive and safe
and objects were always replaceable.

As
I mentioned before, I do comprehend that precautions in driving, but
I do believe I could be better at taking them more seriously. Yes, I
do admit that I am not always as responsible in driving as I should
be, but I need to remind myself of the consequences that can happen
and have occured because of driving. Driving is by far the most
dangerous killer in the world, yet it takes us to be reminded by that
once we are put in the reality of the danger ourselves.
