Driving
Safe
Hello.
I am a senior at Sikeston Senior High and being careful driving on
the roads and highways are so, so important. I have almost lost my
own life driving home late at night so I would like to give my advice
and answer you all’s questions.
The
importance of driving with carefulness is so big. Always, always
watch for what is in front of you and behind you. There are a lot of
people, just simply in my little town, who cannot drive worth a hoot.
I always tend to watch my surroundings and the people around me
because of fatalities. You cannot sit there on your phone, texting
your little boyfriend, and expect to not have a 95% chance of hitting
someone or their vehicle.
There
are many steps you and the people around you can take to not become a
squashed bug on the highway. For one, do not text and drive. Two, pay
attention to the road, do not let there be any distractions in the
car. Three, always keep ten and two on the wheel and your eyes on the
road. Four, do not drink, smoke, or use any types of drugs and drive.
Lastly, five, Make sure if you have children that they are fed,
changed, and whatever else needs to be done before you get on the
road.
I
have many experiences when I look over and a friend or family member
is sitting on there phone, scrolling through Facebook. There has also
been times where they are playing with the radio and I look up and
we’re almost off the road. Do not text and drive, please. There are
children, pets, parents at home waiting for their family member to
arrive safely.
I
do not text, playing with the radio, or even eat or drink while I am
driving, I do not have any luck and I have been in a few accidents,
only one my fault, that probably could have been avoided. I would not
have hit the parked trailer if my windshields would have been fogged
off before I left my house. I would not have flipped my car five
times if the car in front of me would have not came into my lane and
made me swerve. Multiples little things like this are caused by
stupidity and selflessness.
