The
importance of drivers ed is the simple fact that it will spread
awareness on how to properly operate a vehicle. It would help in
reducing the number of deaths because more people will be aware of
the consequences of reckless driving. Everyone that wants their life
should be cautious of how they drive whether its them behind the
wheel or a friend. Everyone needs to be mindful of driving skills
because it can determine a life or death situation.

The
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths relating to
driving is one, people will be 100% aware of their surroundings, at
all times. The problem with people not being aware is because of all
of the distractions. Whether its because of a phone, or trying to
eat, or talking to your friend in the car, putting on shoes, it can
literally be anything. All it takes is looking two seconds away from
the road, and that can be the difference between life and death.
Another step that can be taken is that people need to be aware of how
fast they are going, wherever they are.

I
have experienced being in a car accident when I was around the age of
7. I was in the car with my grandma and my cousins and we were in
really bad traffic in New York. Traffic was really slow to the point
every car was back to back. The car behind wasn
’t
paying attention and hit the back of us. Luckily, the injuries
weren’t too bad, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that the person
behind us were in the wrong because they weren’t paying fully
attention to the road. Whether in major traffic, on the
freeway/highway, in a neighborhood, on the streets, no matter where
you are, not looking at the road when driving is never safe. One of
my friends speed a lot when driving, and her excuse is because “I’m
always in a rush to get somewhere.” To me that’s never an excuse
or valid reason on why you should risk your life or someone else’s
because you can’t manage your time and get to wherever you need to
go in a timely manner. Speeding is never a solution if you’re late
to your destination, you just need to be mindful of the time amount
that you have.

The
steps I could take in being a better and safer driver is to first be
aware of all of my surroundings. Meaning using my mirrors properly
and usefully. A second step could be is to make sure that I am
following all protocols in driving techniques. I could also help
others on becoming safer on the road by spreading awareness of the
drastic increase in car accidents. Also I could inform them on what
to do and what not to do on the road for extra precaution.
