Traffic Safety

Traffic
safety is a recurring issue, especially here in the United states. In
2015 studies showed that 88% of Americans own cars, second in the
world. With the privilege of driving come along the fatality of it.
There are approximately 6 million car accidents in the U.S. every
year. There is no way to completely abolish all car accidents, but
there are many ways in which we can reduce the number of deaths
produced from accidents involving cars. Drivers ed is a very
important first step in developing the overall mind set a driver.
When people are first introduced to driving it is highly important
that the risks associated with driving are instilled in their
brain.I’m sure many people hear about car accidents and fatalities
involved often due to the high number of them but it is easy for
people to nod it off and think, “that will never happen to me but,
In my own personal experience, during my drivers ed class
sophomore year we watched videos of some of the car accidents that
resulted in the death of people in our county and even at our school
and this really brought to my attention just how real and serious the
importance of traffic safety really is and how it can happen to
anybody at any time. When it comes to reducing the number of deaths
related to driving, there are many steps that can be taken not just
buy the government or community but by the driver their self. One big
step is always having a set plan of who is going to be driving and
making sure that person is sober and also giving about bad driving
habits such as texting and driving. The people closest to us such as
our friends and family members have the biggest influence on our
driving. I have seen some of my friends and even a few of my family
members replying to messages while driving a car and although it has
never influenced me, it could be a bad influence on others. If a
person were to see his/her family member texting and driving they may
view it as normal and eventually start to do it themselves heavily
increasing the risk of them getting into an accident. I can start to
take steps towards being a better driving myself by focusing all of
my attention on driving when I am behind the wheel. If i have friends
in the car I tend to focus more of my attention on them than I should
or on occasion i find myself messing around with the radio when I
should be focusing on the road. THere are many steps we as a
community can take together to reduce the number of fatalities due to
car accidents.
