I'm a Belgian national who was looking to get his California DL. A friend of mine (also foreign national) went through the same process 2 years ago and had recommended me to pass the exam at the Culver City DMV and book a 1 hour driving lesson with A1 Driving school right before the exam. The goal was to pass the exam with the driving school car. As a foreign national this is an interesting option as you do need to be accompanied by a CA Driver license holder and have a car with valid insurance/registration. She also told me to ask for Frank :-) On May 12, 2022 I did exactly that. I arrived at the school and was quickly introduced to Frank, my brand new instructor. He immediately let me sit in the car and made sure everything was set correctly - mirrors, seat, etc. for a comfy experience. He then started with the basics for the non-driving part of the exam (i.e. (hand-)signals, lights, defrosters, etc.) and we quickly made our way to the streets. I had prepared a whole list of questions regarding situations I expected to encounter during the exam. Frank was very patient and took the time to answer all of them while practicing. He also gave me excellent tips on safe behavior that examiners would be looking for (e.g. signaling on time, when and how often to look over your shoulder, tips for the backing-up maneuver, etc.) and some pointers on the tricky parts of the Culver City roads. All of which I applied during my exam, which I passed with flying colors! Before getting in line at the DMV, Frank took a quick glance at my "driver permit", which I got after passing my written exam 2.5 months ago. He noticed it had a vision restriction (as I was wearing contacts at the time) and asked about it. I had completely missed that restriction (100% my bad, I know), so I told him I had recently gone through LASIK and no longer wore contacts. Frank told me to have that restriction removed when talking to the DMV, which they did after a quick 10-sec vision test. If Frank hadn't noticed it, I would now be driving with a restricted license and get a fine each time I get pulled over. Great catch Frank :-) So overall amazing experience with A1 Driving and Traffic School in Culver City. I absolutely recommend them. Even if you're super confident (I've had a Belgian DL for over 15 years), the extra tips and tricks you get here are absolutely worth it!

The staffs at A1 Driving and Traffic school were very helpful and answered all my questions to take the online class.

Very easy to get set up for online training and the service personal was very polite and helpful.

The driving instructor Frank, was good. My only problem is that in June I scheduled a lesson late July (so, more than a month in advance) only to get a call a week or so before my lesson that they had cancelled it because the instructor couldn't make it. This was so extremely frustrating because I had scheduled this lesson so far in advance. The person on the phone didn't seem to care much and when I said I was very disappointed their only solution was to schedule me next month. No refund was even offered. I feel like I have to chase them to get answers/solve my problems. Hopefully I can find a different driving school or they can somehow fix this.

If your looking for an Honest, Pleasant Traffic School this is the one. I have a greater respect for my fellow drivers and the road. JP-Instructor taught us well. I don't plan on having to go to Traffic school anymore but if I'm eligible this will be the place. Thank you JP your awesome!

J.P was great instructor...class was both informative and entertaining. Considering the serious topic of traffic violation subject, the class was not boring. The only inconvenience was the lack of desks (or tables) in the classroom.

My instructor was loud and kept touching me. When we arrived at the dmv the man at the desk informed us that the car we were using had expired insurance??? Wtf? Luckily the man was nice enough to let us drive. I also arrived 7 minutes late to my appointment because of my instructor.

Don't go here just because it's cheap. That's what I did, and I ended up just wasting a few hundred dollars. The instructor (JR) doesn't speak english, and he is terrible at instructing you, as he only knows how to give instruction in 2 word sentences, and isn't able to explain 'why'. He'd also make comments about female and elderly drivers that I won't repeat here. Worst of all, we'd spend the vast majority of my training in my neighborhood rather than getting actual practice driving in the city, which meant the practice was virtually useless. The office staff (Jackie) is one of the rudest people I've had to speak with (hung up on me multiple times and lied about having 'other customers on the line' in order to hang up, and would then ignore my call when I used my normal number, and pick up the phone when I changed numbers). When I complained about my instructor, they told me 'that's such a surprise, people always rave about him!' but I see here that there are multiple people complaining about JR and his beat-up car. The owner is nice, but nice doesn't cut it when you hire terrible staff. Seriously, don't use this service.

ThankYou Cynthia for being patient with me and helping me thru out my actual driving test. I like Cynthia she's being accomodating to all my questions and explaining to me all my wrongs while I'm driving and constantly reminding me the right thing to do so while I'm taking my actual exam I'm just thinking that she's beside me watching over me so I wont get nervous with my DMV instructor. She's on time when picking me up and very friendly.BTW I pass my actual driving test thanks to Cynthia.

Absolutely useless and would not recommend them. I did the traffic school with them and they sent me an email saying that it was accepted by the court for my speeding ticket but it wasn't. The traffic school told me it was accepted and did not notify me that it was rejected. I was unaware of any fees and they did not tell me to check that it was accepted.

Geo is the bomb! He taught both of my daughters and they are excellent drivers thanks to him!

My wife recently had 9 lessons in this school with instructor Frank. Everything was great from booking process to lessons them selves - new car, seems professional instructor. But NOT with the most important piece - exam at DMV, where they've sent different instructor who totally demotivated student by interfering all the time and saying that everything is done wrong, as well as he was on significantly older car, which is simply not as smooth as brand new. I think that this is the worst things you could do to newbie driver, so obviously we failed our driving test. And the most frustrating part here is that nobody has notified us that it will be different instructor on different car. When I called afterwards to ask how could that happen, the first thing that I've been told is that "it's student`s fault, when you're ready then you're ready" and that "it was very similar car"... yeah right I get it, I'm not blaming anybody for the exam result, but you could have called me and clearly mention changed circumstances for exam appointment... As well as your instructor has given green light for the driving test. At the end we had to go to another school, where we took 3 lessons and successfully passed DMV test.

Great driving school. I had a very hard time learning to drive on my own, but the instructors at A1 Driving and Traffic School did a great job teaching me and I'm much better at driving now.

My teen aged daughter had an excellent experience learning to drive with A1 Driving School this summer. Michael was her teacher and he was very perceptive in assessing her abilities from the very first lesson. His level of professionalism was commendable.He never stepped outside of the scope of his duties and redirected us to the office for everything that was outside his jurisdiction. Office staff also very courteous. Will definitely engage A1 Driving School to teach my younger son.

I can't say enough good things about this driving school! Frank was my instructor and he was amazing! Truly a great resource that made the behind the wheel driving test that much easier. Not to mention, on time and very reasonable prices too. I got booked into an appointment swiftly and there was a lot of communication about when and where my appointment would be! Not to mention I was picked up and dropped off at my place of residence! Can't recommend A1 Driving and Traffic School enough!

Never got to drive because this company would not answer the phone at all. I really feel like I got scammed. I paid for three lessons and didn't get an email confirmation, their website is outdated, and they would answer the phone during business hours. This is my second day trying to get in contact with them. I will be demanding a refund :/

Daniel was definitely on time and the way he teaches is so calm and assuring, it's fantastic! I'd rate the lesson 5 stars for sure. Give Daniel a raise!

I chose this place based on the great reviews. Unfortunately it was not my experience thus the 1 star. Made an appointment for the DMV driving test for my daughter. Driver was scheduled to pick her up at 7:15 and NEVER SHOWED UP AND NEVER CALLED. I took off work to be here and waited to see her off. Once 7:30 rolled around obviously no one was coming based on where she was taking the test. I had to wait again for the office to open to find out what exactly happened. How about the driver didn't even notify the office that the student had not been picked up and wasn't going to pick her up. At $140 for this "service", there were several cracks that could have been avoided. The driver should have sent a call or text the night before confirming the scheduled appointment, that way we would have been able to follow up with them directly since the office is closed at that time. At least we would have known something. I had considered giving them a second chance after speaking with the office, however after hearing the driver made no effort to communicate with the customer nor the office staff, it's not worth the risk of giving them a second chance. Very disappointed and frustrated "almost" customer. Rename them F1 Driving school because you failed miserably today.

Funny story. I went to traffic school here about two years ago. I arrived on time (early actually), the instructor was late. Place was a bit stuffy and the whole process from signing up to running the class seemed a bit disorganized, again, this was a couple of years ago. The instructor went around the room and asked us what we did to get here and if they were wearing their seatbelt. He gets to me: "So what did you do to get here" -Instructor "Allegedly... speeding, I was in a different state"-Me "Were you wearing a seatbelt" -Instructor "No, absolutely not"- Me He goes on and on and on about how thats totally irresponsible of me, I mean really lays into me for a while in front of the whole class. "So are you going to wear a seatbelt now?"-Instructor "No, absolutely not"- Me He goes on some more.... "So why not"-Instructor "My vehicle is not equipped with one"- Me "What year is it?"-Instructor "2011"- Me Then he goes on and on about how I am wrong and every vehicle after such and such year was equipped with a seatbelt and lays into me a bit more. "Sorry you are incorrect. My vehicle isnt equipped with one, it doesnt come equipped from the factory, can we move on"- Me "Oh reeeeallly, what vehicle is this???"-Instructor "2011 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe"-Me LOL, I mean at that point I just had to laugh out loud inside cause this guy.....! But then it didnt end, he then starts telling stories about speeding motorcycles splitting lanes down the freeways in Los Angeles about how he sees motorcycles every day going 130mph splitting through lanes on the 405 or something .... I mean, I ride my motorcycle pretty much every day, I have never seen motorcycles every day flying down the freeway at 130mph splitting lanes, I probably have never seen a motorcycle on the OPEN FREEWAY at over 120mph but once maybe and they werent splitting traffic...but who am I to argue because Im not there when hes driving to work....but I think thats highly unlikely that multiple motorcycles split lanes of traffic at 130mph every day in Los Angeles.... HIGHLY Unlikely. Like I said, this was a couple of years ago, hopefully things have changed. It was a convenient location for me, the process was a little funky and the class was a bit meh but it did work out in the end. At the time I would have given the school a one star but seeing that it was two years ago thats not really fair but after that experience..... yea.... oy

They have very friendly and experienced driving instructors. Frank (instructor) was a great teacher. Very nice, calm, understanding, and is a very good instructor. The staff is friendly and respectful. Overall, the whole school comes together to help and make sure that the driving students are well prepared and can pass getting their license.

Thank you so much A1! Geo, my instructor, was amazing! I was a bit nervous in the beginning, but Geo made the lessons fun and I started to be more relaxed. He adjusts to your needs, encourages you, and is always positive. He really believes in you and your skills. Thanks to him I gained a lot of confidence and started to enjoy driving. Finally I got my license and cannot express how much Geo helped me to be a better driver.

A1 Driving and Traffic School was an awesome and informative online course. I would highly recommend this to all my family and friends. Please set aside 3 hours to pace yourself. Kudos to A1 Driving and Traffic School for a great experience.

I had a very good experience with the driving school.They made sure that I got rid of a lot of bad habits after 5 years with a learner's permit that I didn't want for the driving test. I passed the test after taking the 5 hour road package with them, which was very useful. I took the test in Staten Island right on the other side of the Overgraze Bridge.They scheduled enough time for me to get picked up in Manhattan and even had an hour lesson on streets very similar to what my driving test would be like.

Huge thanks to A1 driving school and in particular my instructor Geo who was great fun, supportive and patiently answered all my questions, especially about the differences between the UK, where I'm from, and the US. Passed my test today so I'm very happy, and the booking/administrative process with the school was really smooth, too. Thanks again, guys!
