Drivers
Education Is Crucial

The
leading cause of death in teenagers is deaths from vehicle and road
accidents. This shows that the drivers ed system for
adolescents must become more advanced. Having the right education
about driving is crucial to adolescents and adults. People are
driving every day and without the proper education for everyone,
there would be many more fatalities. The education should not only
consist of learning how to drive, but it should also exhaust the
reasons why people die from crashes. Everything about driving should
become more advanced to the stage at which the death toll from
vehicle accidents is lowered drastically.

I
believe that the reason there are so many teenage deaths from crashes
is that they don’t know what can truly happen. They may think they
are amazingly good drivers and that they can handle anything, but
they should be taught that this is not true. There are many steps
that can be taken to reduce driving-related crashes. It starts with
the base or foundation, drivers ed for teenagers, which should
cover all aspects of driving. Another step that could be taken is
advancements in the vehicles themselves. The National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration supplies grants to companies that will research
and find ways to advance vehicles for the betterment and safety of
drivers. The NHTSA also does vehicle crash testing to make sure that
the vehicles are safe and good for use. Stronger drivers ed
and vehicle advancements are ways to help deaths related to vehicle
crashes be lowered.

I
have never personally been in a car accident, but I know many people
who have gotten into crashes because either they were on their phone
or the person who hit them was. This demonstrates that people really
do not know how crucial it is to stay off of your phone when driving.
Whenever I am in a car with my friends or family I make sure they do
not go on their phones and if it is important, I will do it for them.
As I drive I always make sure to keep my eyes on the road and keep my
phone away from me. Even though I have only been driving for a year,
there have been sometimes where I almost got into a crash. For
example, an oncoming car crossed over in front of my car and went
around it, but I was able to get my car out of the way even though it
was a two-lane road. I am unsure of why the other car did this, but
they were most probably distracted. Since I had my eyes on the road I
was able to save myself from what could have been a bad crash. This
taught me that anything could happen at any time and that when you
are driving you should never take your eyes off the road. Driving is
not a joke and it is so crucial for everyone to be educated
thoroughly about it, so they are safe.
