Rules
of the Road
Driving
has become a staple of modern-day life and a part of the daily
routine of millions of individuals across the globe. Driving is an
efficient method of transportation that society has become very
reliant on. With this privilege of fast transportation and easy
access to vehicles,increased responsibility
and training is required to safely and properly operate a vehicle on
the open road. Driving can be very dangerous without proper training
and can become deadly to everyone involved. With an increase of new
drivers on the road every day, instructors and driving courses are a
requisite to ensure proper training that will lead the next
generations in the right direction. Instructors give driving students
handbooks and examine it page by page to ensure students memorize the
laws and regulations, resulting in an exceptional understanding of
what is expected. Taking these driving courses also teach them
techniques such as defensive driving as well as inform them of
essential safe driving practices like safe following distance. At the
conclusion of these courses, all participants must complete an exit
exam to prove their knowledge and ensure their readiness for the
road.
As
a driver, I have completed a drivers ed course, with which
I believe has benefited me in such an important way. In this course,
I was required to take in class notes as well as practice driving on
a driving simulator. Throughout this class, quizzes and tests were
taken to prove my knowledge, which I believe has had a crucial impact
on my skills as a driver. Another useful resource in this course is
advice and information from numerous guest speakers such as police
officers and fireman – both of which helped me receive a greater
understanding of the rules and regulations of driving, as well as
inform me of the dangers and the consequences produced from poor
habits culminated over time. With this newfound information, I have
personally been more aware on the road, making accidents less likely
to occur while I am behind the wheel.
As
a community and a whole society we must come together and decide on
more effective ways to make the roadways safer for all and sustain
this safety for all future generations and drivers. A mandatory
driving course that is accessible to all would be the best way to
start this generation of new drivers. This course would accommodate
all drivers of all ages and incomes to ensure that the widest array
of an audience is reached. To conclude this course and ensure the
students received what they needed from the program, there will be a
final exam with a 90% required to pass as it, though this may seem
extreme the consequences of being uninformed and ill prepared can
result in individuals losing their lives making this this a serious
matter. With this new, more extravagant method of learning, drivers
will learn safer practices and how to properly drive.
Accidents
occur almost every single minute of every day across the globe,
numerous of these unfortunately leading to fatalities. Many if not
all of these crashes and accidents are preventable. I am very
thankful to have not been involved in a car accident, this is a
result of my parents driving carefully and using defensive driving
techniques as well as myself exhibiting the same skills as well when
I am behind the wheel. I am going to continue using these skills to
ensure that I do not get into an accident and make sure I respond
correctly in the event a crash could occur.
In conclusion,
driving is a very serious matter that requires not only the proper
training to safely operate a vehicle but it also requires a serious,
focused mindset. Those who wish to operate a motor vehicle should
take a drivers ed course to ensure they receive all of the
necessary tools and skills that they will need when behind the wheel.
A car is a dangerous tool that we have become increasingly reliant on
as time progresses and they aren’t disappearing anytime soon, they
have become the most efficient way to transport on a daily basis and
will stay in that position for many years to come, and the only way
we can prevent as many deaths and injuries caused by these vehicles
is to inform ourselves.
