Out For That Tree
There are many
times when we see a car accident and wonder what happened. Were the
people texting? Were they eating food? How fast were they going? Many
of these questions are asked and not many of the people involved in
the accident want to tell you what happened because the answer
reveals that they were not being responsible. Most of the accidents
could have been avoided by simply remembering what the person learned
in their drivers ed course.
There is an unappreciated factor of drivers ed. many people just
want to do the class and get their lisence and don’t care what the
teacher has said. The true fact is that the teacher actually knows
what they are talking about. They tell you all the rules and
regulations so you can avoid an accident. They tell you what to do
and what not to do. My drivers ed. teacher stressed the fact about
speed. Growing up on a farm I really didn’t pay attention to speed
until I drove with my instructor. I learned quickly that speed
management is very important especially in wet or snowy conditions.
There are steps
that I believe every driver new or old should take to reduce the
chance of getting into an accident. First: watch you speed. It’s
simple you are more lickly to get to your destination if you go the
speed limit than if you exceed the speed limit by thirty miles per
hour. Second: Put your phone away. My older sister one time flipped
her truck about three times because she was distracted on her phone.
It was a miracle that she left that vehicle without a scratch. The
truck was absolutely destroyed. Whatever is on your phone is not more
important than your life and the people riding with you. Last but not
least: watch the conditions of the road and give yourself time. My
and my older sister,(Same one mentioned above), were going to a
camping trip with some friends and it was snowing. We didn’t do very
good planning so we were running a little late. So to make up time
she went on snowy back roads. She was speeding and then pretty soon
our car starts spinning out of control. We eventually stop with the
help of a tree. No one was seriously hurt but the car was in a poor
condition. The point is you need to be alive to reach your
destination and in order to stay alive you need to be a safe driver.
It’s always
different getting into a car after an accident. It makes you think
what if I…. I’m not your parents or a great example of a perfect
driver, but I have been in a couple accidents. It’s not fun being in
an accident so to avoid an accident be careful. Remember your life is
more important than anything else when you are behind the wheel of a
car.
