Hawaii Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) System
Hawaii follows a Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system to help teens develop safe driving habits before earning full driving privileges. Here’s how the system works:
- Hawaii Instructional Permit (Age 15½+)
- Teens can apply for an instructional permit at 15½ years old.
- Requirements:
- Pass a vision test and a written knowledge test at the DMV.
